Spirit of the Staircase (2D illustration)
This is a section of a larger illustration I am working on. It is part of a series of 2D vector illustrations which I hope to post more of soon. This piece is entitled ‘Spirit of the Staircase’.
My approach is to create form using light and shadow, via an absence of line and the use of solids and gradients. The challenge here was to present depth and atmosphere from a side on orthographic viewpoint, instead of an isometric or perspective viewpoint.
